We present the new 20-21 kits
RCD Espanyol and Kelme revive historical elements in the three new kits for the 2020-2021 season
RCD Espanyol and Kelme, our technical sponsor, have presented the kits that all the club's teams will wear during the 2020-2021 season. There are three models, with clear references to the team's history and with a tribute to the first footballers who defended our jersey.
With the 120th anniversary as the central focus of this season, Kelme and RCD Espanyol have designed these models respecting our club's tradition and history, with a nod to our origins, but also incorporating a contemporary touch.
The traditional blue and white jersey of the first kit stands out for its stripes, which are wider than on previous models. It also combines the classic blue pants with other alternative ones in black, used by the club from 1910 to 1940. The home kit is a tribute to what players wore during that period of our history.
Now, 110 years after that first uniform and 80 years after the last, RCD Espanyol pays tribute to these origins, returning the classic colours of a glorious era with great historic players such as Zamora, Saprissa, Bosch, Prat and Trabal.
The away kit brings history together with one of the most important artistic movements, Modernism. The navy blue jersey incorporates details of the trencadís that Gaudí made so popular. This mosaic is the link between Catalan Modernism and the Sagrada Familia area, where RCD Espanyol had its first playing fields.
The third kit brings back yellow with a thin black line, a standard colour in recent seasons which appeals to the club's origins. Don't forget that the first jersey that Espanyol wore in 1900 was that colour.
On the technical side, two aspects should be highlighted: the jacquard fabric allows the addition of motifs in homage to Gaudí's trencadís, and provides more shine and brightness than is usually seen in football kits. On the other hand, the heat-sealing on the sleeves not only acts as a decorative element, but is created with seamless technology, which provides greater comfort and performance.
From today until August 30th, the official kits will be available only from the club's online store, with a special launch discount of 20% for members.
