"We are annoyed because we wanted to win"
Vicente Moreno highlights that his team started well, but admits that the two goals against them did a lot of damage
The RCD Espanyol coach, Vicente Moreno, explained after their elimination in the Copa del Rey that, “I think we did well, we felt good, but the first mistake we made ended in a goal. Then they unfortunately made it 0-2 and that threw us off a bit. We carried on trying to find the goal, but the game became tricky, particularly from a morale point of view. In the second half we did all we could to try and score, but we just couldn't manage. We need to think about Girona and carry on pushing as we have been”.
Vicente Moreno said that the team is “annoyed because we wanted to win, but we have to draw a line under it now and focus on what we have in hand. We have to win our next game, stay focused and forget about this match; we need to move on and concentrate on the league”. The coach insisted that, “all games are important to us and this is reflected in my team selection. Here we had a line-up which I hoped would come up with the goods, but unfortunately we didn't succeed.
The Espanyol coach remarked that, “I was convinced that we were going to win, but sometimes circumstances dictate what happens and there's nothing you can do about it. We started the game in control, we remained competitive throughout the match and never slacked off. We had opportunities to score and, in the end, it's a fine balance between finding the back of the net or not”.
