The success of the RCDE Youth Academy was a driving contributor in Espanyols return to the La Liga First Division

52% of the players who participated during the season in returning to the top were trained by RCD Espanyol de Barcelona from grassroots

The youth academy is one of the club’s gems. The work carried out in recent decades has established the club as one of the sports organisations which gets the best out of their youth academy. In recent years, many players have come through this academy to establish themselves in the white and blue first team, or have managed to secure a place in other clubs of the top European leagues.

A fact that confirms this great work is that 14 out of the 27 footballers who took part throughout the season, and contributed to the First Division promotion were trained in our youth academy. This means that 52% of the players selected by Vicente Moreno were trained in the Ciutat Esportiva Dani Jarque.

These players include veterans such as David López or Dídac Vilá, others who became part of the first team like Sergi Darder or Melendo, confirmations like Puado, Pedrosa and Lluís López or the appearance of Melamed, as well as the reliability of Pol Lozano. Others like Omar, Jofre or Svensson also had their appearances this season without forgetting Marc Roca, who played in the first matches before his transfer to Bayern Munich, or Víctor Campuzano. Álex López played in the Copa del Rey, but not in LaLiga.

During the season, there were several players who came through the youth academy and were called up, but have not had the chance to make their debut yet like Pujol, Ángel Fortuño, Joan García, Alejandro Pérez and Gori.
