"The key to the match has been the 1-2"
Abelardo says his team has not been forthcoming in the areas
Espanyol saw their streak slowed down by Levante, who have taken all three points from RCDE Stadium. The coach of RCD Espanyol, Abelardo Fernandez, has not hidden his disappointment at the defeat. "I think the 2-1 loss killed us; that goal has hurt us. With the 1-1 draw we were good and we dominated Levante. We were good under pressure and Levante hadn't got past midfield. However, Victor's driving was followed by a counter-attack that ended in a 2-1 draw and, in terms of morale, it hurt us. We weren't very strong in the areas and this is the First Division and it's paid off with defeat," said Abelardo. The white-and-blue coach said that "we have not been competitive in the areas" and "the key of the match has been the 2-1.
"Just as one learns from victories, so one learns from defeats. It is not easy what we had done and we are going to continue giving everything," he said.
Looking ahead to Thursday, the coach has said that "we knew the disadvantage we had and from here we have to see how they recover" and added that "we have to see how people will come".
