RCDE Academy Baghdad, awarded as best sports project of 2018 in Iraq
The training centre receives a recognized distinction for its pioneering work in the Middle East
RCDE Academy Baghdad is in luck. The club's training centre has obtained a prestigious recognition. The Iraqi Football Network association has awarded it the prize for the best sports project of 2018. A merit for the brilliant job done by the professionals of the white and blue entity in the capital of the Middle East country, in terms of football and human development of the students. Espanyol de Barcelona is a pioneer in the training of talent in Iraq, being the first club of the European elite to create a centre in the territory.
On the other hand, several coaches in Iraq have received a series of master classes by the heads of the DOR, Performance Optimization Department, of the club in the Ciutat Esportiva Dani Jarque, where they have been able to see the know-how of youth academy.
The Iraqi expedition was formed by current coaches with a past on the pitch as footballers: Imad Mohamed Ridha, former player and champion of the Asian Cup in 2007 and 2000, Tork Atiyah, Asian youth champion in 2000, an also a League, two Cups and a national Super Cup, Haidar Jabbar Kadhim al Husseini, international player and second coach at the Rio de Janeiro Olympics 2016 team and Ali Abdul Jabbar Thajeel, also international player from Iraq.
