RCD Espanyol target Indonesia in international expansion
The club's strategy extends to the Asian country
RCD Espanyol de Barcelona continue to consolidate the entity's international expansion project with their arrival in Indonesia, a fundamental country in the club's strategy. In addition for a great love of football in the Asian country, it is a market with a lot of economic and human potential.
A magnificent opportunity to enter a growing country, with which the club maintain historical ties and which offers many sporting and business options, Indonesia has been highlighted as a place to approach new audiences and increase our fanbase.
As part of this policy to get closer to the Indonesian community, the club has launched a new Twitter account: @RCDEspanyol_ID.
RCD Espanyol are the first LaLiga club to look to this strategic market. There are many boys and girls in Indonesia who can benefit from the club's knowledge to improve their skills, and overseas academies help do this whilst also instilling the values that they represent.
Both in 1978 and in 2017, the team toured the Asian country, generating great excitement and establishing links that have been preserved to this day. Two players born in Indonesia -Arthur Irawan and Evan Dimas- have played at youth level for RCD Espanyol, whilst going the other way has been Jordi Amat: The defender, who played 47 games with the first team, is one of the stars of the Indonesian national team and one of the most important public figures in the country.
In addition, the RCD Espanyol Infantil B team recently visited Indonesia to play in the 2022 Asiana Cup, enjoying a wonderful experience.
Indonesia has the fourth largest population in the world, with more than 270 million inhabitants, and is an economic powerhouse. Its growth is linked to the organisation of top-level international events such as the Under-20s FIFA World Cup FIFA and the G-20 summit in Bali.
