RCD Espanyol beats FC Barcelona in the Rocket League ederby and makes its way to the playoffs

The biggest rivalry of Barcelona smiled to the “pericos” after a well deserved comeback

The RCD Espanyol de Barcelona won the first Rocket League ederby this thursday. Ninety years have passed since the first Professional Football League derby in Barcelona, now history repeats itself in esports. RCDE beated the ESL Masters leader by 2-1 and qualified for the playoffs of the spanish competition.

FC Barcelona arrived to the ederby as invictus leader, but the players form RCD Espanyol de Barcelona found a way to take down the “blaugranas”. It was the first time the two clubs from Barcelona played against each other in an esports competition and the result reflected RCDE’s good season.

FCB won the first match but the team coached by Isengard and led by the captain Stake never gave up, managing an epic comeback against the leader of the ESL Masters.

It was all or nothing for the “pericos”, specially after the victories of ARG and FekyX hours before, but they kept calm and carried on. Even after losing the first match, they didn’t lose hope and conquered a historic win with a surprising 2-1.

The team had started the regular season with two defeats to then come back with 5 victories in a row, ending the spanish Rocket League competition in 3rd place. The semi finals of the ESL Masters will take place on june 16th, the next rivals of RCD Espanyol de Barcelona may be either FC Barcelona or ARG,
