RCD Espanyol and LaLiga begin London football programme
LaLiga x Bloomsbury Football League kicks off in UK with support from RCD Espanyol
RCD Espanyol de Barcelona is proud to support the inaugural LaLiga x Bloomsbury Football League, which began last week in London, United Kingdom.
The league is a collaboration between LaLiga and its UK community partner Bloomsbury Football, a grassroots football charity based in north London. It will run from November 2022 through to June 2023 with the first matchday held at Acland Burghley School on 12th November.
RCD Espanyol de Barcelona are one of 12 Spanish clubs supporting the programme, which sees the Club taking part in the competition as well as donating equipment and kits to the players, ages between 10 and 13-years-old.
The other clubs involved from across the top two tiers of Spanish football are Sevilla FC, Real Betis, Real Sociedad, Valencia CF, CA Osasuna, RC Celta, Deportivo Alavés, CD Tenerife, Real Oviedo, SD Eibar and UD Las Palmas.
Keegan Pierce, LaLiga Global Network Delegate in the UK and Ireland, said, “LaLiga and its clubs represent much more than world-class sport and entertainment. Through our overseas offices and our foundation, Fundación LaLiga, we seek to make a positive impact in local communities. In Bloomsbury Football, we have found an innovative community partner with whom we seek to contribute to young players’ health and well-being, all while celebrating the joy of Spanish football.”
Charlie Hyman, Founder & CEO of Bloomsbury Football, said, “We’re thrilled to embark on our most ambitious project yet with LaLiga, operating a full-season competition in North London which provides an unparalleled football experience for young people of all backgrounds. Our partnership with LaLiga and its clubs is part of Bloomsbury Football’s continued mission to tackle barriers to participation and change the game for young people.”
RCD Espanyol de Barcelona are looking forward to the rest of the season and to continue supporting the programme, LaLiga and Bloomsbury Football.
