The membership cards include a tribute to all the icons that have left their mark on the different generations of the club
This Thursday, RCD Espanyol presented this season's membership cards. They have a historical feel as they include a tribute to all the icons that have left their mark on the different generations of budgerigars and parakeets. All our idols will be accompanied by 'trencadís', a style which is characteristic of our home city of Barcelona.
To connect our fans' memories with their idols, these are the players who will be represented on the different passes:
Infant's Card (0 to 5 years old): Raúl Tamudo
Coming from Santa Coloma, he's an icon for a generation of RCDE fans from the late 90s into the first decade of the 2000s. He's a record man, having played the most games and topping the charts as the highest scorer in the history of the club in the league. We remember him celebrating the first goal in the 2006 Cup.
Children's Card (6 to 15 years old): Jordi Lardín
Sarrià's latest idol. Thanks to him we've been treated to magical football nights like the time at the Santiago Bernabéu where he scored two goals, sealing the deal in the last victory at the Madrid stadium. His technique and ability left the Blue and Whites' fans speechless.
Senior Card: Moisés Arteaga
Captain of the century. He was responsible for lifting the 2000 Cup that we won against Atlético de Madrid. After 60 years, we finally got the trophy we'd been longing for.
Silver Senior Card (25 years of membership): Iwo Jima
Urruti, Verdugo, Molinos and Marañón hold the blue and white flag, emulating the iconic photograph of the Battle of Iwo Jima during World War II. In a very difficult 1979-80 season, this photo was meant to represent victory over adversity.
Gold Senior Pass (50 years of membership): Julián Arcas
Born into the club and with an unconditional love for it, the Oxygen Team striker had a blue and white life: from making his mark in city derbies to being the first ever women's coach.
Senior Silver Pass (75 years of membership): Zamora
Nicknamed El Divino. The most universal parakeet and one of the most iconic footballers of all time. His role in goal was essential in making Espanyol one of the best teams of the '20s. We saw him in the reconstruction of the famous photograph at a training session in Sarrià, in December 1926.
Parakeet pride is in our DNA and has been passed down through generations of members and fans. As a historic club, in our 120th year, we want to honour and commemorate all those players who have written our history and created so many of our memories.
