Opposition lowdown: Cádiz
The full lowdown on RCD Espanyol's next opponents
RCD Espanyol make the long trip down to southern Spain to face Cádiz CF on Sunday.
Given how little separates the two sides towards the end of the LaLiga table, there is plenty at stake this weekend. Cádiz sit one place off the bottom with one win this season, as they look to get out of the relegation zone.

Last meeting
Espanyol came to the Nuevo Mirandilla at the start of the year in what proved to be an action-packed encounter, ending with two stoppage time goals. Manu Morlanes gave them an early lead before Álvaro Negredo equalised following the break.
The match burst into life at the end of 90 minutes, when Iván Alejo scored what looked to be the winner for Cádiz. But with practically the last action of the game, Raúl de Tomás salvaged a point with his 96th minute equaliser for the visitors.
Key player
Espanyol know all too well about Negredo, who scored when the sides last met in January 2022 and will lead the Cádiz line on Sunday.
The former Manchester City striker still serves as a talisman up front at the age of 37. His last-minute winner against Real Valladolid is their one and only goal so far this season, as he continues to be their most promising asset in attack.
Club links
Higinio Vilches Pescador played across Spain during his career, which would bring him to Barcelona in 1979 when he joined Espanyol from fellow Catalan club Gimnàstic de Tarragona.
He played in the blanquiazul shirt for four years in the top tier, before making the switch to Cádiz where he spent two years between 1983 and 1985.
