New Football Kits Presented!
The designs are inspired by two of the club’s historic moments: the 1987-88 season when the team reached the UEFA Cup final, and the campaign of the penultimate promotion to the first division (1994-1995)
RCD Espanyol de Barcelona return to the first division with intensity. And that intensity is captured in the three strips that were jointly designed by the club and Kelme, so that the fans can wear them with pride.
The designs of the two first strips take us back to the 1987-88 campaign. It was during that season when RCD Espanyol competed in the UEFA Cup final having played a superb competition by eliminating some of the best European teams at the time. Both the club and the technical sponsor want that intensity and eagerness to serve as an inspiration for the present campaign. The third strip is based on the one worn by the team during the 1994-95 campaign when they earned promotion with José Antonio Camacho leading the side.
The symbolism of the shirts perfectly represents the eagerness conveyed by the club in the year of its return to the first division. The Marketing Director of the club, Antonio Alegre assured that, “we were so convinced about the promotion and about us returning to the first division, so when we started to work on the kits at the beginning of the 20-21 season, we wanted them to symbolically coincide with two of the club’s historic seasons.”
For the matches played in the RCDE Stadium, the first team will wear the usual blue and white shirt with a discrete herringbone pattern print on the white stripes. In their away matches, the team will wear a red shirt with a white and blue detail on the chest. The third strip takes inspiration from the stripes on the Club’s badge with a modern and versatile design in dark blue. The official kits are for sale now in the club's official shops.
