Victor Sanchez warns that ahead lies "a league of only 11 games, and a lot can happen"
"Improving day by day, "getting in tune", raising "the vibe" and "keen to get started". That's how the team is right now, in the words of Victor Sanchez. The midfielder, who admits that he "missed having match experience", says that "the slow start has been going well. Everyone is looking forward to competing again."
He stresses that "within a few days we will be in better physical shape still, for sure. We have to try to get the team into the best shape possible. We have to adapt, because we have 11 games left that will be 11 finals.
He says his self-imposed strategy is to "think about the Alaves game, then we'll think about the next one later. We hope to score a lot of points", he insists when asked about the championship that's about to begin.
He also believes, as David Lopez said a few days ago, that the mandatory confinement "has helped us to disconnect and separate ourselves from the previous reality. Hopefully it will help us to come back with a new outlook."
He also considers that the five changes allowed "will be used to ration players, but we know that you have to give your best even if you only play 30 minutes".
He understands that "it's bad for us to play without an audience" and that it "distorts" the competition, but he trusts that "people watching from home will be proud." He says "we were having a very bad year in terms of results, but we have room to change that and get a lifesaver that could give us a lot of joy. Hopefully we are at the turning point that will help us overcome the six-point deficit we have."
He says that "we have to adapt as best we can" to the match schedules and that "we will play at different times both in both June and July." That's why he insists that "it will only be an 11-game league, and a lot can happen. It'll be a different league, it will be strange. We have to be sure it doesn't take us by surprise."
