Jordi Lardín and Quique Sánchez Flores arrive to their end in the Club
The club has decided to cease both professionals from their responsibilities as football director and coach of the first team
RCD Espanyol of Barcelona reports that Jordi Lardín and Quique Sánchez Flores have been relinquished as their football director and coach of the first male team, respectively. The club has made this decision as a result of the sports performance of the first team and with the clear will to face the remaining days of the current season and the preparation of the 2018-19 sports course in the best conditions.
As a result of this decision, the club also reports that Espanyol B coach David Gallego will temporarily assume the role of coach of the first team, since this Sunday in the derby against Girona FC in Montilivi and in the session of this Saturday before the game. David Gallego will return to the front of the second team to face the playoff of promotion to Second Division B, at the end of May. Meanwhile the technical assistants Carlos Castro and David Charcos will assume the day by day functions.
RCD Espanyol thanks Quique Sánchez Flores for his dedication and work in these two seasons to the club, where he has been an important figure leading the project from the bench and makes him the best wishes for his professional future.
Likewise, the club wishes to thank especially the work done by Jordi Lardín in this stage as the Academy coordinator, in the first place, from 2012 to 2017, and recently in the first team and in the second team. Lardín, legend of the entity as a soccer player, has always shown a commitment and dedication to the height of his perico feeling and RCD Espanyol wants to thank him deeply for his contribution during the last six years as well as wish him the greatest successes from now on in the personal and professional fields.
The sports general manager, Òscar Perarnau, will temporarily assume the tasks and functions of the sports management, linked directly to the first team and the second one, until the appointment of a new technician who assumes this responsibility within the organizational chart of the sports white and blue area.
Oscar Perarnau, along with Vice President Carlos García Pont and David Gallego, will appear at a press conference at the Training Complex Dani Jarque after the training of the first team this Saturday at noon, with access to the media accredited by the club.
