"It's a game of six points"
Diop says that, against Rayo, "we must win anyway and make things right"
Pape Diop was convinced that the chances for Espanyol to leave the relegation positions go through a victory on Monday against Rayo Vallecano. The midfielder says that the match against the team of Vallecas, "is not a final, because I don’t like to qualify like that, but it is a match of six points. If we win we will be better and if we lose, we'll get into the mess again".
For Senegal born player, the team can’t make the same mistakes of concentration showed against Betis, but says that "every game is different. I do not know how we will play against Rayo, but we have to win anyway and make things right. We must be concentrated from minute one and the three points have to stay here".
Diop said that Rayo “forces you to be well defensively to avoid suffering".
Equally reminds that Espanyol "hasn’t been regular so far this championship. We had got a good level from the game against Valencia, but I have no explanation for what happens. The other day, for example, we had our chances and we could not score and when we were better playing, Betis finished the match with another goal-kick. That it happens in a game is no worrying, but on Monday we must get back to the work of recent weeks which is what has us get down".
Finally, he said that he is not calculating the points "because that would be wrong. What we have to do is think about winning and go at our utmost effort in the remaining games".
