González: "We will go out there to represent our club with pride"
The coach previews the game against FC Barcelona
Manolo González knows that the Catalan derby will always be a special occasion, and acknowledged as much in his pre-match press conference before the match with FC Barcelona.
“It is a different game and we have to treat it that way. We will go out there to represent our club with pride. We will try to do what we always do: compete at the highest level. We have to run like animals and give our all to counteract the good things that the opposition have.”
“It is a difficult game, but there are teams that have competed well there. I think that by being organised and making the most of our opportunities, we can make the game difficult for them. We have to be very effective tomorrow," he stated.
He also pointed out that “we are always motivated and we are going to compete to the maximum. We have to be organised, not lose our cool and compete every minute. We have to recover the identity of the team that took us to the Primera División; not only in this game but in the rest of the season.”
The coach expressed the pride that comes from being able to use five players from the youth team every week.
“Being a Perico motivates you a lot, but we can give no less than 120 percent. I have been lucky enough to beat FC Barcelona in other categories. I want to win so that the Espanyol fans can have some joy.”
