González: "We are competing well against all of our opponents"
The RCD Espanyol coach speaks before the game against Real Betis
Manolo González is drawing on the last two defeats for RCD Espanyol for inspiration this Sunday, when his team take on Real Betis on LaLiga Matchday 7. He spoke in the press conference ahead of the Sunday evening fixture.
“Last year we managed to keep clean sheets, and that gave us promotion. We were stable and we did not concede many goals. Now we are on a run in which from very little from the opposition, we are being penalised a lot. These are things that we have to take care with, we have focused a lot on this and on the fact that the feeling is good. We are competing well against all of our opponents. We have to try to make it so that, with the little that the opposition do against us, we do not lose the game."
The coach insisted that “against Real Valladolid we played badly. In the other games the results were closer, and there have been moments in which luck has not gone our way. We must not make specific errors because they hinder us a lot. The team are coming into the game in good shape in terms of confidence, but we also need to be more experienced, so that they can understand what I mean and win the game.”
Finally, he revealed he expects the clash against Betis to be “a difficult game -like all those in the Primera División, home and away. They are a side who have been qualifying for Europe every year and have had the same coach for several seasons. It will be a difficult game, but we have the weapons to win it.”
