González: "It was a question of finishing, not attitude"
The coach reflects on the team's Copa del Rey elimination
Manolo González reacted to the Copa del Rey elimination against Barbastro by saying it came down to the difference in effectiveness between the two teams. The RCD Espanyol boss acknowledged that “in the first half we could have gone ahead with more than one goal in our favour, but in the second half they had the penalty went 1-0 up and that's when it really got difficult."
The coach said that he is already thinking about the LaLiga match against Getafe next Monday.
“We are focused on maintaining the form from the other day and in competing again the way we should. Last weekend we got it right and this is what we have to do until the end of the season."
He also insisted that “it is time to be self-critical. I knew the importance of this match, but if you don't manage to score, you don't deserve to go through. And that's how it went in the end. The level of attitude was good, but you also have to be accurate in front of goal. We had many chances, but on a defensive level both goals we conceded were very avoidable."
