"An exciting season"
Sergi Darder advises that "we are in a necessary growth process" and that the team is "on the right track"
Sergi Darder continues to show great pragmatism when he talks about Espanyol as well as a clear ambition and confidence that daily work will allow the team to improve its performance each season. "We hope it will be an exciting season", he says. "We have to start with the European matches we have now but we must not forget that the League is the most important thing in the season. It will be a long and hard year, but we are excited about what is coming and what we achieved last year. We are in a process of growth that is necessary", he insists.
The player also recognizes, between jokes, that the 'Darderismo' "is an idea of ambition and optimism, that is what everyone wants. Gallego is an ideal coach to continue with the growth we all want. We know we don't have a lot of preparation time because we have a match on the 25th, but we're on the right track”.
He assures that Espanyol "does not have 20 stars" but "we have a good team to compete" and that leads him to underline that "we have to go to win the match on the 25th and then the return match and then the next one. The more games we win, the closer we get to our goals. Every year the league is more equal and every year it costs more to win games”.
He insists that last year "there were different alternatives in the game" and therefore argues that the will of the new coach "is to have the maximum ball and try to attack the rival, knowing what we have to do. It's not playing for the sake of playing. We have to work a lot of things and know what we're doing at all times and why we're doing it”.
