All convicted and with a single goal
"Everyone's commitment is firm," says Diego López, while Wu Lei and Dídac declare that they, "want to take the club to its rightful place"
There is a single conviction, the same idea of total commitment and a single goal. This is how the blue and white squad sees it at this start of the pre-season and this is how Diego López, Dídac Vilà and Wu Lei summarize it in a brief interview, after confirming their renewed contracts with Espanyol.
"I will be completely satisfied once I see this club back in the first division, which is the goal we all have. We are all in this boat together, and we all have to row to get there. We have to change our attitude and, in my case, I have looked at myself critically on both a personal and a team level, and that has to help us in not repeating the mistakes of last season,” says Diego López.
He believes “this is a new season for all of us. A season that, despite everything, will be very positive and we will get what the club deserves. We have started to work with great intensity and commitment to give our best every day. We have to change the negative mentality with which we ended last year. The disappointment was great for everyone: players, club and fans, but we are three mainstays who have to be very united in this adventure. That union is what will give us the strength to return to the place this club deserves. We will fight for it from minute one. Everyone's commitment is firm. We are going to try to make these words become facts and make the fans feel proud of the team. The group is going to fight the unspeakable to give them back the happiness that we took from them this year.”
Dídac Vila, for his part, is convinced that “the team will fight its way back to the First Division. We will do our best to achieve it. Since last Monday I have been seeing all the players with the same goal. We have it very clear. We do not want such a bad experience to be repeated and we want to achieve this goal. We know it will be difficult and we will fight from day one. We want to take the club where it deserves, where it has always been and that is the goal.”
Finally, Wu Lei assures us that “I am very convinced that we can quickly get back to the First Division with everyone on board. As long as I can help the team, wear the Espanyol shirt and put in an effort on the pitch, I will fight for Espanyol with all that I have. Now we have to give our very best, because our only objective is to return to the First Division next season. It is the goal of the whole team.”
