Manolo González is focused on winning the last two games of the season

RCD Espanyol men’s head coach Manolo González is focused on winning the last two games of the season, starting with SD Amorebieta on Sunday.

González said, “We have to get promoted in the two remaining games. I always want to be positive. We have to win both games and for the team to take the step forward we need. Amorebieta are a difficult team, as they are showing, but this is a game of needs: they need to earn survival and us, to seek promotion”.

Espanyol travel to Lezama for the final away game of the season, chasing automatic promotion for which they will need to earn maximum points from the final two games and hope that their rivals slip up.

The white-and-blue coach continued, “We have to know how to play with the need to win that we and they have. You have to be smart and know how to play it. We have to go out to win and think about ourselves, without further ado. It is not a match in matchday two, but matchday 41.

“We have to keep focused and not lose our nerve, because mistakes at this point can be costly. Right now I am only looking at finishing first or second, that is what matters to us, nothing else”.
