Manolo González is focused on getting a much-needed win away to Real Valladolid

The key games keep coming for RCD Espanyol, as men’s head coach Manolo González is fully focused on Saturday’s trip to Real Valladolid.

González said, “It is an important game, if we win we will make a statement. We will leave assured of ourselves, as we did in Leganés, Elche and Zaragoza. We have to go for the three points, because if we win, the situation will change drastically. The atmosphere has not been bad, the players feel assured and less vulnerable.

Espanyol’s opponents Real Valladolid currently occupy the second automatic promotion spot, and the Mágico know that a win will move them three points off with just three games to play. Every result counts in the fight for promotion, something that is clear for the team and fans alike.

The head coach continued, “You have to win a game and mentally change that block. I am only thinking about winning tomorrow and then the other three matches that remain until the end. We are assured, we look strong and I am fully focused on winning the four remaining games.

“Valladolid are a complete team, well worked, but we also have weapons to try to control the game. If we start well, the team's confidence changes a lot”.
