“I see that the players are aware”
V. Moreno suspects it will be an even match, but he wants to win in Majorca and “face the following matches with three more points”
From one match to the next, Vicente Moreno has always considered the next match as being the most important on the calendar. Mallorca is no exception. The coach, who keeps showing appreciation for those who were his players up to last season, knows there is still a long way to go in this championship. “The players are aware of how important this match is,” he assures, and adds that there are still “another 51 points left on the line after tomorrow. Our energy is in this match, and we know we have to keep winning after this one. We want to win and face the upcoming matches with three more points. I see the players are aware and we are going to perform well.”
He recognises that the clash with Mallorca “is a fantastic match to play. There are many things that make it very attractive. I imagine it will be a close match,” he stated, while recalling that the island “is a fantastic place”, and that he would like to revisit “because I was very happy there, and felt really loved.”
After the latest results, he argues that you always have to look for “a balance” between goals for and against. “The teams with less goals against are usually around the top of the table. We have conceded few goals, but it’s important to keep that statistic at zero because we are a team that creates many goal-scoring opportunities.
He accepts that the present epidemiological situation still doesn't allow fans into the stadiums, but emphasises that “I would love to play this match and all others with spectators. It would mean that the present situation would be getting better.”
Lastly, on the appreciative words that Raíllo said about him being his coach, he assured that “he thinks highly of all the players whom he had the fortune to train at Mallorca. I’m happy about all the good things that happened to them with the exception of the game tomorrow because we want to win,” he said with a smile.
