“I am very proud of my team”
Abelardo highlights the team’s “unity, solidity and commendable attitude” and regrets that the VAR has not rectified the sending off
At the end of the match, Abelardo said: “I am very happy for the match my team have played. They have overcome the red card, we went into the game very well. We have not let Getafe play their game, we have had the best chances, we have been solid, united, with a commendable attitude. I am very proud. We played as well or even better than the other day. We have done a good job”.
Regarding the controversial moment of the game, the coach said: “We are playing a lot. I understand that everyone can make mistakes, but when we have a tool like the VAR, this is a red card that should not happen. Bernardo did not try to attack Damián at any time. I got the impression this never was a red card”. And he added: “It was a decision in which we have been harmed, we must already think about Levante, which is what we are interested in”.
In this respect, the coach stated that “we got a very good point, we have added to the three we got the other day and it will be very useful if we get the next three points. The team has been phenomenal, we have been the team that people want to see. We have pleased all the people who are supporting us from their homes. We have to maintain this level. As the games pass, we will be more tired, but we have to stay the course”.
He said in conclusion that “if you feel well mentally, you can do anything and you will run even if you have no energy left”.
