New exhibition inaugurated in Barcelona to honour former Sarrià Stadium
Hundreds of RCD Espanyol fans participated in the opening ceremony of the Sarrià Stadium exhibition.
The special exhibition, organised by the RCDE Foundation, commemorates the centenary of the inauguration of the Sarrià Stadium (1923-2023) which is being held this February.
Mao Ye, CEO of RCD Espanyol, led the Club representation at the ceremony. Other figures who were involved included Eva Parera, president of the Sarrià-Sant Gervasi District Council, Antoni Fernàndez Teixidó, president of the RCDE Foundation and Albert Batlle, councillor of the Barcelona city council and fifth deputy mayor of the consistory.
In the different parliaments, the historical relevance of Espanyol’s former home was celebrated, alongside the history and legacy of what is the most celebrated stadium among the Club's supporters.
Admission to the exhibition is free and can be seen until 28th February. The historic Dipòsit del Rei Martí, at Calle Bellesguard, 14, hosts an interactive exhibition from Monday to Friday (from 4pm to 8pm CET) and on Saturdays (from 10am to 2pm CET) in which, in addition to photographs, you can discover other objects that were part of the stadium and the Club’s history.
During the visit, it will also be possible to acquire commemorative material from the exhibition such as exclusive lithographs, commemorative scarves, as well as historical material.
This exhibition is also part of a whole series of events that will be held throughout the year to commemorate the centenary of the stadium's inauguration, including the publication of a book that will review the entire history of the legendary stadium.
Among the attendees there was also a large representation of former players, headed by counsellor Rafa Marañón, RCD Espanyol ambassador.
Foundation patrons were also in attendance, among them the commissioner of the Stadium's Centenary, Alberto Fernández Díaz, as well as members of its committee of historical advisers, the president of the FCPE, Ton Roig, and different councillors of the Barcelona city council.
