Welcome Abelardo - New RCD Espanyol Coach
The club opt for the Asturian to coach the side until the end of the season.
Abelardo Fernández (Gijón 19-4-1970) has reached an agreement to become the RCD Espanyol de Barcelona coach until the end of the season. Abelardo arrives at the club with two assistants, Tomás Hervás (assistant coach) and Iñaki Tejeda (analyst), after coaching Deportivo Alavés and Real Sporting de Gijón in different divisions.
Abelardo began his coaching career at the Real Sporting de Gijón academy, moving on to Canadás CF and CD Tuilla before returning to Gijón and then going to Deportivo Alavés.
Abelardo will take his first training session on Monday 30th December at the Dani Jarque Training Centre at a time still to be confirmed. In the afternoon he will be presented at 16:00h in the Juan Segura Palomares auditorium in an event exclusive to the club’s accredited media outlets.
