Urko González: "We have the opportunity to make a statement"

The midfielder looks at the six-pointer against Alavés

The RCD Espanyol squad want to maintain the good showings of recent weeks, and one of the winter transfer market arrivals is amongst the players pushing for further good results. Urko González, who is on loan from Real Sociedad, spoke to the media on Wednesday.

“We have shown that we can compete well and stand up to any team. We are doing well. It's a pity that we only got the one point against Athletic Club, but we will have to make that point count this weekend.”

The midfielder insists that this Saturday, away to Deportivo Alavés, “we have the opportunity to turn this situation around and make a statement. It will be a very competitive match, because both teams want to win, but if we come out like we have done in recent weeks, we will take the three points."

He added that the team need to keep the same objective in their sights in future weeks, “because we want to get the most points possible to stay away from the relegation zone."

“These upcoming games are very important, starting with this Saturday, against a direct rival. We have to give our all to take the three points.”
