Special initiatives for World Alzheimer's Day
The club will make several gestures of support on Saturday
Saturday, September 21st, marks World Alzheimer's Day, a date established by the World Health Organization (WHO) and Alzheimer's Disease International (ADI) in 1994.
RCD Espanyol, a club characterised by its social commitment, have prepared various actions to help make the effects of this disease more visible.
The first team play Real Madrid at the Santiago Bernabéu, and their kit for the game will be purple, with an armband of the same colour. At the same time, in Cornellà-El Prat, the stadium will be illuminated in purple, the representative colour for the day.
These types of events seek to raise awareness of the illness as well as its social and health consequences. Alzheimer's is a progressive and degenerative disease of the brain, which causes deterioration of memory, thought and behaviour. It is considered the most common form of dementia.
