Reyes, new Espanyol player
The attacker arrives free after finishing his contract with Sevilla and becomes the second signing of the 2016-2017 season
Jose Antonio Reyes (Utrera, 1983) has become the second signing Espanyol overlooking the 2016-2017 season after the agreement reached between the blue and white club and the Andalusian player. Reyes, who arrives free after finishing his contract with Sevilla, will sign for the next two seasons; therefore the second year of his contract will be subject to his performance during the season 2016-2017. Reyes is a left-winger who has played more than 300 games in the First Division, international with Spanish National Team and has an extensive track record.
Reyes is a player with a long career and has played in some of the best European clubs. The left winger started his career at Sevilla. Later, Reyes played for Arsenal (2003-2006), Real Madrid (2006-2007, on loan), Atletico Madrid (2007-2008), Benfica (2008-2009, on loan), Atletico Madrid (2009 - 2012) and Sevilla (January 2012-2016). Full international, he played the World Cup in 2006 with the Spanish National Team.
Among other titles, Reyes has won the Premier League, the Community Shield and the FA Cup with Arsenal, the Spanish league with Real Madrid, the League Cup with Benfica, one UEFA Europa League with Atletico Madrid and three with Sevilla in addition to the European Super Cup with the ‘rojiblancos’.
Jose Antonio Reyes becomes the second signing of Espanyol after the goalkeeper Roberto Jimenez who has arrived from Olympiakos.
The footballer will officially become a blue and white player always exceeding the medical test conducted privately in the coming hours. Whenever exceeded it, its official presentation is scheduled for Wednesday afternoon at 4pm.
