Puado in top 100 finishers in the world
The academy product and co-captain has a 35% conversion rate this season
RCD Espanyol co-captain Javi Puado has made the prestigious list of the 100 best finishers in the world.
The current top goalscorer in the Second Division, with nine goals in 13 appearances, is in the ranking which consists of 65 leagues across all continents, according to the weekly report published by CIES Football Observatory.
This study analyses data on attempted shots versus goals scored during the current season, coming up with a conversion rate and goals per game figure for each player. Puado is 31st on the list led by the likes of Bayern Munich’s Harry Kane, Santiago Giménez of Feyenoord and Real Madrid’s Jude Bellingham.
According to the study, Puado has an average of 0.76 goals per game with a conversion rate of 35% when facing goal. The completion rate is calculated by multiplying the number of goals scored in the domestic league per 90 minutes by the conversion rate of shots taken.
The final figure is also adjusted based on the sporting level of the matches played (as a percentage difference with respect to the overall average). Only players who have played at least 720 minutes in the league for the same team during the current season are considered.
Puado, a product of the Club’s La21 academy, has had an impressive season for RCD Espanyol as he leads by example as one of the men’s first team’s captains. Achievements and data like this shows his evolution and maturity as a player, as well as his role as a team leader and important figure.
