Puado: "I want to score more goals, create more assists and play better"
The forward has big ambitions for 2023/24
An injury midway through preseason halted provided an obstacle for RCD Espanyol's Javi Puado, but the forward was able to play his first minutes of the campaign last Sunday against CD Mirandés.
Speaking this week, the academy product emphasised his ambitions for the season, as well as what he expects will lie ahead.
“Every season you try to play better than the previous one. In the Segunda División, the important thing is that the team get promoted. I want to be a participant in achieving that objective and help the team. Personally, I want to score more goals, create more assists and play better,” he explained.
"Right now, we are focused on the match against Amorebieta. The goal is to get the three points, at home, with our fans our fans there for the first time this season."
“The objective is very clear: We want to get promoted. We have to achieve it. This is my home, it is my team, the club that have given me the opportunity to play in the Primera División. I have a contract and I am very happy to be here.”
Puado pointed out that the opening games of the season are very important and highlighted that the team really deserved to have three victories in that time.
“We have a lot of room for improvement. We are ambitious and we wanted 9 points from 9, but we have to go game-by-game and the more victories we take, the better."
Finally, he concluded by acknowledging that “this division has always been tough. A few years ago what we did at Espanyol seemed easy, but it was difficult. I think that every year the level gets higher. It will be a very long road for us. The first thing to do is to think about Amorebieta and continue picking up points."
