Puado: “We are improving and working”
RCD Espanyol forward looks ahead to next match against RCD Mallorca
Javi Puado spoke in a press conference ahead of Friday’s match against RCD Mallorca.
RCD Espanyol will look to rise up the LaLiga table against a side just two points and two places ahead in 12th. Speaking to the media at the Ciutat Esportiva Dani Jarque, the forward gave an honest reflection on the side’s recent results.
Puado said, “We had several games where we were on track to get the three points, but we let them slip away. In that sense we are not happy. We understand the fans; the lack of points makes people nervous, and we would like to have more. We are improving and working."
The striker comes off the back of his first goal of the season, opening the scoring in last week’s 2-2 draw with Elche. However, Puado insisted that his aims were about the collective goal rather than his personal tally.
He said, “Above all, I want to win and help the team, that’s the most important thing above scoring. We have really good forwards here and have had so for a while. It’s a pleasure to be part of that group.”
Espanyol go to the Visit Mallorca Estadi in the first match of matchweek 12, eager to pick up another win away from home and a second overall in October.
“I can see that the team is confident,” Puado said. “We have good moments, but the important thing is to try to extend them. The manager trusts us and we trust the coaching staff. We have a good dressing room and that helps, because from here we can build as a Club and a team.
He concluded, “We must correct the mistakes that cost us and I'm sure we'll see Espanyol higher up in the table.”
