Óscar Gil: "We want to be solid at home"
The defender looks ahead to the weekend's match against RCD Mallorca
RCD Espanyol host RCD Mallorca in Saturday's early kickoff in LaLiga, and the squad are working hard in preparation for the match. One of the players keen to keep up the momentum following victory over Elche last weekend is Óscar Gil, who spoke to Espanyol Media on Thursday.
Gil said, “We took a very hard-fought win last time out, in what was a very demanding match. It was doubly sweet for us because of the way we won, with a fantastic goal from Sergi Darder in the final minutes".
"We are seeing that it is very hard to win games this season, and the positions in the table are very tight. A win on Saturday would be a leap up for us. We want to be solid at home and have the security that being strong at the RCDE Stadium could give us. We are going to go out there with the idea of winning the game and of making the fans happy, as their response has been incredible, 10/10."
On a personal note, Gil has had to be deployed in several different positions recently across the backline, but he insists that the objective remains the same.
He concluded, “I'm working to do whatever the coach wants of me. Last week we had a lot of players out, and the coach put me on the left. I try to do the best I can in every position. If I have to play on the left for us to win, then so be it".
