Joan García 2028
The academy product goalkeeper renews his contract to 2028
RCD Espanyol and goalkeeper Joan García have reached an agreement to extend the goalkeeper's contract until 30th June 2028.
García joined the Espanyol youth setup in 2016 from local club Damm and has always been considered one of the Club's future assets. Since August of last season he has had a first team number, now sporting the iconic number one shirt.
The Catalan keeper debuted for the men's first team under the guidance of Vicente Moreno in a Copa del Rey match against Solares, which ended in a 3-2 victory. So far, he has played nine competitive matches for Espanyol, last playing in this season's Copa del Rey first round win over CD Mensajero.
An international with the Spanish Under-19 and Under-21 national teams, his renewal supports the good work done at La21, especially in the goalkeeping area. It is worth remembering that two of the three men's first team goalkeepers - García and Ángel Fortuño - were made in our academy.
On his new contract, García said, “I am proud to continue with RCD Espanyol, I am very happy about this renewal. I have been at home for many years, and for any player who lives and spends the day at the Ciutat Esportiva Dani Jarque, this is what they want: to reach the first team and stay for many years. I have worked hard to have this and I am delighted".
