González: "Football is being cruel with us"
The coach talks after the loss to Real Betis
Despite the defeat against Real Betis, RCD Espanyol coach Manolo González wanted to continue to draw positive conclusions from the team's performances, speaking in his post-match press conference.
"We did many things well. We competed well, but two specific errors made us lose the game," he told journalists.
The coach assured that he feels "calm, despite these last three defeats" and explained that "I see that the players work during the week and they want to be competitive.
There are days, like we had against Alavés, when we were successful and others, like today, when we were not. I'll stick with focusing on the good things. We competed on equal terms with a European-level rival. Football is being cruel to us."
He also pointed out that "the team were better than other days with the ball. We found our way of playing, but we lacked depth and a bit of confidence to take risks. We lacked daring in one-on-one situations. Fatigue weighed heavy on us and left us with no options to equalise."
