Calero: "We have renewed hope"

The defender looks ahead to the promotion playoffs

As the promotion playoffs close in, Fernando Calero spoke to Espanyol Media to explain how the dressing room are approaching the crunch stage of the season.

“We have been at the top all year and in the end we were not able to achieve automatic promotion, but we have renewed hope and we have to believe in ourselves -because we can do it,” said the defender on Wednesday.

He also knows the enormous motivation that Sporting will have, after qualifying for the playoffs in the last game of the regular season.

“We have to have the same enthusiasm that they have. It is clear in our minds that this is an opportunity that we cannot allow to pass us by,” he insisted.

"Sporting are a very tough team, and the enormous equality in the division has been on display. In the game against them in the second half of the seasons we played very well, although we lacked finesse in attack. If we reverse that situation, we will win. We have to go out there strong, win our duels and do things well, like we have in many other games. I'm sure that we can achieve it.”
