B. Oliván: “We want to consolidate our good work”
The full-back spoke to the media ahead of the meeting with his former side Mallorca
Brian Oliván admitted that this is the best season of his career so far, as the team prepares to host Mallorca on Saturday.
It will be a special match in particular for Oliván, who faces his former team at his new home at the RCDE Stadium. Speaking at the Ciutat Esportiva Dani Jarque on Wednesday, the defender assured that it is just like any match with the aim to get all three points.
Oliván said, “It will be a very important match. We need the three points to be strong at home, we have the same respect for every opponent. The upcoming schedule is good and we must try to connect with our fans and try to give them a victory”.
On a personal level, Oliván has had a superb debut season in the blanquiazul shirt. He has five assists to his name – the joint-third best tally in the league – and scored his first goal for the Club in the previous home match against Real Sociedad.
Oliván explained, “It is the best season of my career without a doubt. I have been improving and growing as a player. I have improved aspects that I had to improve and I hope to continue doing so. The truth is that during the week I am already thinking about competing again in the next match”.
Regarding the tight situation in the bottom half of the LaLiga table, the full-back commented, “There are 10 teams that are very even and with very little difference in points. Mallorca will be a very difficult opponent. For them it will be a final and for us it will be no less than that too”.
Espanyol come off the back of a last-gasp win away to Elche, but keen to pick up a first home win since Real Betis. It was very painful, but very important”, Oliván said of the victory. “They are a very strong opponent at home which made it very difficult for us. In the end we managed to score in the 92nd minute and it gave us a lot of confidence”.
