A matchday in honour of Ricardo Zamora
RCD Espanyol will celebrate one of its greatest goalkeepers on the anniversary of his 123rd birthday
This weekend, RCD Espanyol will celebrate legendary goalkeeper Ricardo Zamora on the weekend of the anniversary of his 123rd birthday.
On 21st January 1901, Ricardo Zamora, legend and icon of RCD Espanyol, was born. He was the first great global star in the football world, gaining the nickname 'El Divino' (The Divine). Zamora, who would have turned 123 this Sunday, was everything at RCD Espanyol: he is the history of our Club.
Throughout this season, the RCD Espanyol Foundation has been paying tribute to Zamora by presenting a goalkeeper shirt to each opposing team to visit the Stage Front Stadium.
However, this Saturday will take on more importance as the weekend of his birthday. Ambassador Thomas N'Kono will present a shirt with the detail of the starting opposition goalkeeper.
In addition, the matchday poster will be a tribute to the figure of Ricardo Zamora, while goalkeeper shirts in the RCDE Store will be 30% off from Friday 19th January to Sunday 21st January.
'El Divino', the first global star, will be the main protagonist in a deserved recognition this weekend. Glory to the Heroes of Espanyol!
