5-1 loss in Brighton
RCD Espanyol lose in their fourth preseason friendly of the summer
RCD Espanyol rounded off their trip to Brighton with a defeat at the hands of the home side, who ran out 5-1 victors. Joselu scored the consolation goal for Los Pericos.
Brighton and Hove Albion proved to be well-drilled opposition, just a week removed from the start of the Premier League season. Espanyol came into the game off the back of a training camp in intense heat in Marbella, as they continue to work on their fitness for the beginning of the LaLiga campaign.
Unable to take the initiative in the game, Diego Martínez' side did come close in the second half to pulling back goals. Sergi Darder had two attempts, and Joselu another pair -converting one of them.
Webster and Dunk scored for Brighton, before Trossard racked up a hat trick. Joselu's strike came in the 77th minute, with no time for a reaction in a highly demanding friendly.
