1-1: Draw away to the league leaders
RCD Espanyol B come away with an important draw against CD Teruel
RCD Espanyol B took away a point on their visit to the league leaders CD Teruel, in a 1-1 stalemate on Sunday.
The match did not start well for Luis Blanco's team with an early lead for the visitors. Despite dominating possession and breaking into the area shortly after the contest got underway, Teruel struck first inside six minutes.
Two minutes later, Antoniu Roca went down injured and had to be replaced by Nabil Touaizi early on. Espanyol went looking for an equaliser, with an effort by Roger Martínez whistling over the the crossbar.
The young pericos did eventually draw level and it was through the early substitute, as Nabil equalised for the visitors. After 37 minutes, a clear chance to take the lead was kept out by the CD Teruel goalkeeper, leaving it level going into half-time.
In the second half, play tightened up and the two teams barely conceded chances. A controversial move with ten minutes remaining saw a foul by Emaná on Roger Martínez, which should have resulted in a second yellow card for the CD Teruel forward. Shortly after, Emaná nearly scored the winning goal for Teruel, but a slip prevented a comfortable shot.
It ended 1-1 in Teruel, as Luis Blanco's team remain the only team this season to have been able to beat Teruel this season in the reverse fixture last November. Next week, RCD Espanyol B are back at home against CD Ebro, on Saturday 1st April (kick-off 6pm CEST).
