Honours even between RCD Espanyol Femení and Osasuna Femenino

RCD Espanyol Femení played out a 0-0 draw with Osasuna Femenino on Sunday.

Carol Miranda’s side were at the Ciutat Esportiva Dani Jarque for matchday 20 of the Primera RFEF Femenina, looking for a first win in three against an Osasuna side not far off in seventh place.

María Pi has been straight into the starting XI since her winter arrival, and she was busy from early on with several chances including denying Patricia Zugasti’s free-kick. The keeper was on top form to keep the visitors at bay with every chance they had, while Espanyol fought to settle into the match.

It was Osasuna with the majority of the attempts on goal, though the hosts were certainly pushing. Judith Luzuriaga was unlucky when the ball got away from her after intercepting a loose ball, before Chini had their best chance yet with a decent strike that was saved by the keeper.

Goalless at the break, Espanyol knew that they needed to up their game and find a way through. Adriana Martín and Pixu were denied by Maitane Vilariño, but the blanquiazul side were improving minute by minute in their pursuit of a breakthrough.

Adriana had a golden chance in front of goal after a wonderful ball in from Judit Pablos, but she could not get enough on it to convert it home. Soon after Nuria Martínez was sent off for a last player challenge, leaving Espanyol down to 10 players for the final half hour.

Osasuna looked to capitalise on the player advantage and almost did through Maite Valero, but she was denied by the resilient Pi. A tense closing period saw nothing to separate the sides, as it ended in a goalless draw at the Ciutat Esportiva Dani Jarque.
