“We still need to win more matches”
Pape Diop said that the team has made a great step but there is still work to do
Espanyol achieved a great victory on Sunday against Athletic Club. The white and blue squad finds itself in a good moment and closer to its target. However, Pape Diop, one of the players that did best, said that there is still a lot of work to do.
“No team is going to be saved with 35 points; we aren’t saved yet. We made a great step but we still have to win two more matches to avoid an embarrassing situation. Maybe we are in our best moment: we have won four matches, WE DREW one and lost another. We are finishing well the season”, he said.
Diop said that “we have improved in defence. We don’t play as open when we have the ball and we have less problems. We run well and that makes our opponent to have more difficulties”.
“We are playing in the best league in the world and all matches are difficult. We have to try to be more regular and I think that now we are doing better in recent matches”, he said.
Diops said that “I feel important; not essential. I try to do my best and help the team”.
