“Espanyol has a brilliant future”
Chen Yansheng has become, with a great majority, president number 28 in RCD Espanyol’s history
RCD Espanyol is starting a new season in their history. On Thursday June 30th 2016, took place an Extraordinary Shareholders Meeting of in Cornellà’s Fira that must be an inflection point and changes for the club. Chen Yansheng has received the support of 99,97% of the capital represented in the ESM and he has become, officially, in the 28th president of RCD Espanyol’s history. Chen Yansheng’s and Rastar Group’s project has received the shareholders' majority support that believe that the club starts a new fruitful stage and gets over the problems of the past. The initial ovation from the audience confirms the enthusiasm that has been generated.
In his presentation speech, Chen Yansheng has indicated that Espanyol has "a bright future and we need your support. We hope that more people become fan of our club and more and more people go to Cornellà-El Prat meet more and more people. If we have the enthusiasm and passion of the fans, the club's future will be bright. We will work to become Espanyol one of the best clubs in Spain". The espanyolista president has said that the project presented by the Board of Directors is based on three pillars: economic self-sufficiency, creating a proper sports model and expanding the social base of the club. He also said that "the capital increase will allow us to enjoy a healthy club that faces with ambition the coming years. With the financial support of the capital, Espanyol may appear ambitious for the future and consider new sporting challenges without the necessary economic stability would be entirely unthinkable".
CEO, Robert Ramon, has detailed several aspects that are part of the plan Espanyol 2020. "We need to ensure the basis that will allow us to move forward", he said. Robert made clear that the first objective was to ensure the permanence because "continue in the first division meant eligible for the new television rights, fix the situation and create a good position to grow". The CEO said the plan is based on five areas: sport, economic, financial, social, international and trade promotion. "We are a football company and football is the key and we have to have good results", he said.
Robert has revealed some aspects such as the desire to be economically self-sufficient and added that the budget for next season, pending final approval, will be 70 million. "In the 2020-2021 season we want to reach 125 million and no debt. We must work to become self-sufficient by ourselves".
In the sports area, Robert indicated that the RCD Espanyol wants to create a proper sports model: "The quarry has to be a reference. We want to be pioneers in the modernization and innovation, creating reference players and signing important players". He also explained that they are carrying out some alterations the Training Complex Centre, we are also replacing the grass of the main fields of the Training Complex Centre and RCDE Stadium will change and you want to create a "great medical area".
The CEO has stated that the club must grow and expand the social aspect du brand internationally. Finally, he made clear that are working to exploit the commercial spaces of the Stadium.
